RIVERS: AMAECHI HITS PDP, REMOVES MEMBER FROM BOARD

The Rivers state governor, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, Saturday approved the resignation of the Deputy National Chairman of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) as chairman of the Board of the Port
Harcourt Flour Mills.
Gov. Amaechi of Rivers State

A statement signed by Rivers State Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Chuma Change, announced the appointment of Marcus Nle Eji and Sir Francis Elechi as chairman and member respectively, in the place of Secondus and Madam Jane Nna Chinwa, as chairman and member respectively.

Prince Secondus is one of the state's politicians backing the supervising Minister of Education, Nyesom Wike, who has been engaged in a fierce political battle with Governor Amaechi.

Although not much reason was given for the change, some believed that the change was long over due, considering the fact that the state government is under the All Progressives' Congress (APC) and Secondus playing at the national level of the PDP, which has become the opposition party in the state.

"His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, the Governor of Rivers State has approved the withdrawal of Prince Uche Secondus - chairman, and Jane Nna Chinwa - member, representatives of the Rivers State Government, on the Board of Port Harcourt Flour Mills Ltd.

"Consequently, the governor has approved the nomination of Marcus Nle Eji - Chairman, and Mr Francis Elechi - Member, as representatives of the Government of Rivers State on the Board of Port Harcourt Flour Mills Ltd.
